Once again i show up on my blog apologizing for having ignored it for the past 11 months!
Having not posted since last February, it seems family life, 501C3 work, Directing and Teaching a Leadership Program for Logos University at its Whippany Campus, and habitual editing and marketing of past writing projects (2 books, 1 screenplay, 2 screenplay treatments) seems to swallow up the time. And then there was this election year, Covid 19, etc. THE ULTIMATE DISTRACTIONS FROM CREATIVITY AND NEW THOUGHT.
But much to be thankful for, particularly the appetite so many have for this subject of LEADERSHIP.
Well, not being in the mood or frame of mind to start sharing too much, recent events prompt me to note some provocative thoughts, some which are not new to me or you; ... but bear repeating, if only for myself.
- Leadership is like beauty, difficult to define, but you know it when you see it.
- "If we do not know enough about Leadership, someday we just may be misled." (The late Rev. Myles Monroe)
- "The spirit of the welfare state (and socialism) does not produce leaders." (The late Oswald Sanders)
- "My greatest fault is my intolerance of mediocrity." (the late Felix Beck, real estate finance pioneer and father of Emmy-Award winning sports broadcaster, Bruce Beck.)
- "The situation does not make the person, it reveals the person." (Bill Byrne, former Montclair, Boston College, NFL lineman, retired resort industry leader.)
- "If you do not have anyone following you as a leader, you are just on a stroll." John Maxwell, Leadership guru.
- "Of all the words of tongue and pen, the saddest are , ... WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN." John Greenleaf Whittier.
Ah, yes, one of those distractions is calling. "America waiting for the manifestation of great leaders???" Still far from embellishing upon that statement.
Until next time, Joe
