So you're complaining about your sore back, or the economy, or how the Republican and Democratic Parties are not the same as when your parents were alive, ... or that the Jets look terrible, or that you retired too soon? The list goes on!
Well, here's a solution: Read Laura Hillenbrand's Unbroken, the story of Louis Zamperini. I think you will stop your complaining. And, when you realize how difficult it is every day for Ms. Hillenbrand to function because of her own maladies, you just may really be embarrassed about all of your whining about your woes.
For me, like you, Laura and Louie minimized my perceived problems in no time. And the author also brought me back to when my late dad, PFC Rocky Cervasio, USMC, mentioned, "Oh, yea, our guys leveled Kwajalein."
He never gave the details about that atoll battle, nor the ones at Tarawa, Eniwetok, or Iwo Jima. Just would say, "We did what we had to do, but God damnit, I still can't believe we made it back. They were all prayin' back in Newark."
Don't get me started. For those who know, more details on Rocky and his pals pops up in my novel, Bad News on the Doorstep, and soon in the screenplay.
Dad would have been 89 on August 27. He was a real Marine, ... and still is to this day. Thanks to him and all of his buddies, yesterday, today, and tomorrow, ... particularly those who gave their lives.
