My cousin Mark Cervasio has written and published a heart-warming and educational little masterpiece entitled, Life's a Ball with Billy the Baseball. This treasure is a must for anyone who knows a little guy or gal who loves baseball or softball, or just for anyone who wants to feel young again.
Go to Llumina Press to read about it at www.lluminapress.com
A two-sport star (football captain and batting leader in baseball) at our beloved Belleville High School in the seventies, Mark is the son of my godfather and godmother, Anthony and Esther Cervasio. Thankfully, both are still with us. Uncle Anthony is that angelic younger brother of my father Rocky. Both were fictionalized in my book Bad News on the Doorstep. Indeed, all of the Cervasios are so proud of Mark!!
As Life's a Ball... gets sold across America at minor and major league ball parks, you may become more familiar with my ever-smiling younger cousin. He has always been a passionate baseball player, coach, and now writer about America's past-time. This beautifully illustrated story will warm your hearts, particularly when you get to the last page, and when you learn of its dedication to Mark's late son Nicholas.
Known as "The Happy Warrior" to many, young Nick passed away suddenly a couple of years ago. (you can read about him earlier in this blog under "Family Matters.") But like his dad, Nicholas always was smiling, even in tough times.
So, want to warm a kid's heart, keep your own pumping, or feel you'd like to keep Nicholas' memory alive?? Buy a bunch of these little books and give them out to kids all around the neighborhood. Maybe you'll put a smile on their faces just like the one that's always on Mark, or the one we remember best on Nicholas.
Congratulations, Mark! I am sure you put a smile on Nicholas' face with your wonderful feat in writing Life's a Ball with Billy the Baseball!!
